I woke up at 12:30 p.m. today folks. A little late you say? Well, the Key Holders had a big evening last night. Our adventure started at the Condo where we enjoyed pre-dinner drinks before heading over to Billingsley's in Santa Monica. This 60 year old establishment serves chops, steaks and stiff drinks. Our table, set center stage in the main dinning room, had a perfect view of the well-stocked bar and the leatherette booths packed with hungry diners. In typical geriatric shuttle-style, we enjoyed a huge variety of food including ribs, steak, stuffed shrimp, rice and vegetables (guess who ordered that!)
After dinner, we navigated the 10 to the 110 to the 101 for our 8:00 p.m. attendance at “The Drowsy Chaperone.” Our Broadway show coordinator, Gregg, secured spectacular seats in the orchestra section. Every nuance, dance step and raised eyebrow could be seen from our location. The show itself was exceptional – funny dialogue, a dash of romance and nostalgia and excellent song and dance routines were executed by a wonderful cast. We left the theatre humming bits of tunes and repeating song lyrics.
Back at the Condo to refresh our thirsty palates, we changed into warmer and more casual clothes for our walk to the Santa Monica Pier. With Marilyn leading the charge – thank God she has a headlight and brake lights (and a top speed of 5 mph), we set off down the sidewalk. Heaps of people were out – walking, bicycling and skateboarding en mass toward the pier. I have no idea how many Angelenos attended, but it felt like 50,000+. Sand areas on both sides of the pier were packed with revelers. The grunion made their appearance, flopping on the shore, glowing in the light of the Ferris wheel. We made our way through the ever-growing throng, having a look at various art installations and dancing to the live DJ sets. It was 2:30 a.m. by the time we returned to the Condo.
We’ll all need a day or two of rest before we head into several important events:
Friday July 25: ISRAEL, OY VEY! Mark will take us on a tour of Israel via slide show on the widescreen TV. Bring your shekels and pottery shards!

This is a private event and Karen will be contacting the guests with details.
