Friends, pardon my excitement, but I’ve just received amazing news! Today, word has come from the Winter Holiday Expedition team that Lady Hampshire’s steam locomotive has been located. I’ve been given special permission to post the first known photograph of the engine here on the blog.
With only five months remaining before the Downtown Repalone Living America attraction opens, the Acquisitions Department and Historical Society are now making plans to acquire and transport the locomotive back to the Downtown Repalone property.
There has also been some discussion about a Whistle Stop tour, but engineers are not sure the locomotive will be able to make the trip under its own steam. The Train Reclamation Team will take the next three days to document the engine’s condition. In the first photo to the right, the expedition photographer captured the Chief Investigator as he surveyed the terrain in
the vicinity where the engine was discovered. The second photo shows the Expedition Team making its way to the engine’s current location.
